Sister Elaine is the eldest of five children and was born in Hopewell, Virginia. She attended Catholic elementary school and graduated from a public high school. After graduation, she entered the Sisters of Mercy on September 8, 1967. After completing a teaching degree, she taught in several Mercy-staffed schools, prior to pursuing graduate degrees in special education. While at Talladege College she trained students to become teachers. Sr. Elaine has been at Holy Spirit since 2005. She enjoys being back in the Catholic School system, especially at Holy Spirit. There is a wonderful spirit of family and commitment to the Gospel message.
