World History II
9th Grade
Full Year - 1 credit

World History II is designed to give students the foundations of social, economic, religious, political, intellectual, and military history from 1500 to the present. Students study common trends in history, explore the connections between different cultures and groups of people, and delve into historiography in order to gain a better understanding of our world's past. Students gain the ability to think critically, analyze primary and secondary sources, create cogent arguments orally and in writing, defend a position, critique the arguments of others, and collaborate with peers.

U.S. History I
10th Grade
Full Year - 1 credit

U.S. History I provides students the foundations of the social, economic, religious, political, intellectual, and military history of the United States up to the Industrial Revolution. Students study common trends in history, explore the connections between different cultures and groups of people, and delve into historiography in order to gain a better understanding of our world's past. Students increase their observational, critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
 

U.S. History II
11th Grade
Full Year - 1 credit

U.S. History II is designed to give students the foundations of the social, economic, religious, political, intellectual, and military history of the United States from Imperialism to the present. Throughout the school year students are expected to critically examine information as well as analyze and compare different ideas. Students increase their observational, critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.

AP U.S. History
11th Grade
Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation
Full Year - 1 credit

AP United States History covers the foundations of the pre-Columbian period to the present day. Using chronological and thematic approaches to the material, the course exposes students to extensive primary and secondary sources and to the interpretations of historical events by a great variety of historians. Class participation through seminar reports, discussions, debates, and role-playing activities is required; special emphasis is place on critical reading and essay writing to help students prepare fo the AP U.S. History exam.

Economics
12th Grade
One Semester - 1/2 credit

Economics introduces students to the foundations of micro and macroeconomics and applies those principles to issues in the real world. This course prepares students for introductory economics classes at the college level. Students gain the ability to think critically, analyze information, create cogent arguments orally and in writing, defend a position, critique the arguments of others, and collaborate with peers.

Government
12th Grade
One Semester - 1/2 credit

Government introduces students to the foundations of the political system of the United States. Students explore the historical background of the federal government and Constitution. Students study the division of powers between the states and federal government. Students also discover how politics functions in action by analyzing each branch of government. Students gain the ability to think critically, analyze information, create cogent arguments orally and in writing, defend a position, critique the arguments of others, and collaborate with peers.
